Team & Pay
Use care tasks and team tasks
Chester has two kinds of tasks. Care tasks are a checklist for one client, like Fed or Plants watered, that you tick on every sit, stay or daycare day, and the pet owner sees. Team tasks are paid jobs with no booking, like driving a pet home, that pet owners never see.
The short version
- For care tasks, tick what a client needs on their Care Tasks card, then tick each one off on the report card.
- For team tasks, add a task type with its pay on Team Pay.
- Put a task on a team member's day, and pay it once it's marked done.
On your phone
Care tasks:
- Tap the Clients tab, tap the client, and scroll to Care Tasks.
- Tick each task they need, and choose Per pet or Once per visit.
- For a per-pet task, pick the pets under For:. Pick none to include every pet.
- Tap Save care tasks.
- On the visit's report card, tap ✓ Done, ✕ Skipped or the N/A button on each task.
- All done marks every unanswered task done. Skipped asks Why? (optional).
On the web
Care tasks:
- Click Clients in the left sidebar, click the client, and find Care Tasks.
- Tick each task, choose Per pet or Once per visit, and click Save care tasks.
- On the report card, click ✓ Done, ✕ Skipped or the N/A button on each task.
Team tasks
- Add a task type: open Team Pay, find Task types, and tap + Add a task type (Add a task type on the web).
- Give it a name and its pay (Pays ($) on the web).
- Put one on a day: on your phone, tap Add appointment on your schedule, then Task.
- On the web, click New Booking, then Add a task.
- The task choice only appears once you have a task type.
- Pick the task type, the Team member, the date and time, and tap Add task.
- The team member taps Mark done when it's finished.
- Not before the task's day.
What your client gets
- Care tasks show on the report card. The pet owner sees Done, Not done (with your reason) or Not needed for each one.
- Team tasks are never shown to pet owners and never go on their invoices.
Good to know
- Care tasks are for sitting, boarding and daycare. Home tasks like Mail collected and Plants watered are for sitting only. Walks, grooming and training have no checklist.
- The list shows on every qualifying visit. There's no setting for how often.
- On your phone, Chester checks before sending if you skipped a task without a note. The web doesn't.
- Only done team tasks are paid, at the pay set on the task type, on the team member's pay period. A planned task keeps the pay it was planned with.
- Team members can log a task for themselves, for today, from My Pay. It shows "Needs your OK" until you approve it.
- Team members get a push and an email when someone else plans, changes or removes their task, unless they've turned off booking change notifications.
- Who can do what. Saving care tasks needs Manage client records. Team tasks need Manage billing & invoices and the Team plan.
