Charge more on holidays and busy dates
A stay service can charge more on holiday weekends and in peak months. You set the dates once, and Chester prices every booking that touches them.
The short version
- Open a per-night service (like boarding) in your services.
- Turn on Night rates by date and add peak months or named dates, each with a price per night.
- Save, and new bookings on those nights use the date price.
On your phone
- Tap the More tab, then Settings, then Bookable services.
- Tap Edit on a service whose Price is set to per night.
- Turn on Night rates by date.
- A Peak months group appears, named "Peak season" to start.
- Tap the months it covers, rename it if you like, and enter the Price per night.
- For a holiday or long weekend, tap Add named dates.
- Type a name (for example "Long weekend"), pick the First night and Last night, and enter the Price per night.
- Tap Save.
On the web
- Open Settings, then Bookable Services, and edit a service whose Price is set to per night.
- Turn on Night rates by date, and a Peak months group appears.
- Pick its months and price, and click Add named dates for holidays.
- Click Save.
What your client gets
- When a pet owner requests a stay that touches a dated night, they see why it costs more before they send it, for example "Long weekend: $95.00 a night instead of the usual $85.00 (3 nights)".
- The invoice line names the reason and the usual price.
- You see the reason on the booking too.
Good to know
- Who can change prices. You need permission to manage services to see Bookable services.
- A night is dated by its evening. A stay from Dec 24 to Dec 25 is the night of Dec 24.
- Named dates win over peak months, and both win over your usual price. A client with a custom rate still pays the date price on those nights.
- Named dates can't overlap, and a month can be in only one peak group.
- Prices freeze when a booking is made. Changing your dates later doesn't re-price existing bookings.
- If you move a stay before it's invoiced, Chester re-prices each night by its new date, using the rates from when it was booked.
- A different deposit for busy dates. Under the deposit, in Only for these dates, use Add dates to set a name, a From and To date, and a percentage or flat deposit for bookings on those days.
- On each set of dates, turn on Non-refundable to keep that deposit in full if the booking is cancelled. If your cancellation policy keeps more, the policy wins.
- Extras charged each night. For an add-on like an extra meal, set Charged to Each night of the stay and choose How many each night. Use Called to name it ("meal") so the invoice reads "6 meals".
- Night rates only appear on per-night services. A walk or a visit priced once doesn't show them.
