What clients see in a report card
When you send a report card, your client gets it in three places at once, and it's theirs to keep. Here's exactly what lands on their side, so you always know what you're sharing.
The short version
- Your client gets each report card as a notification, an email, and in their Chester account - and it stays there to look back on.
- They see everything you filled in, per pet, plus your photos. Your internal note is never shared.
How your client gets it
- A notification on their phone: "New Report Card", with your highlight line as the preview.
- An email, so it reaches them even if their notifications are off.
- In their Chester account, where every report card stays, ready to look back on any time.
What's in the report card
Everything you filled in, per pet. The wellbeing details adapt to the service:
- A walk shows mood, energy, and potty breaks (with a gentle health flag if a stool looked off).
- Sitting, boarding, and daycare also show appetite, since the pet eats during the visit.
- A groom keeps it simple - just mood.
And on every report card, whatever you added:
- Medication you gave, if any.
- Your highlight moment and your note to the client.
- For grooming or training: the services performed, your next-visit suggestion, and any homework.
- Photos (and video on Pro plans).
- For a walk, the route on a map with the distance, and the weather.
- Who the visit was with (your name), and a prompt to leave you a review.
What clients never see
Your internal note stays with you and your team, always - it is never part of what the client receives. So it's a safe place for private reminders. Any photo you mark as internal stays private too; only client-visible photos go out.
Good to know
- A client set to lightweight gets a shorter card - potty, medication, and your note, without the mood and energy details. See the privacy article for how that's set.
- On a group visit, each household sees only their own pet's card, and the exact walk route is hidden from the other families.
- Report cards are read-only for clients - they can view, keep, and revisit them, but only you can create or change one.
