Report card privacy: when a client opts out
Some clients love a full recap after every visit; others would rather not get one. Chester handles that for you: a client set to private is never sent a report card, and you never have to remember who's who. You can set a default for everyone, change it for one client, and your clients can choose for themselves too.
- Set a default for all clients in Settings.
- Override it for any one client from their profile.
- Your clients can also choose their own level - and Chester always honors the most private choice.
What each option means
- Full - the complete report card: photos, mood, potty, highlight, and your note.
- Lightweight - a shorter version: a photo and a quick note, without the detailed observations.
- Private - no report card is sent to the client at all. You still keep your own internal log of the visit.
Set your default (for all clients)
On your phone: Settings tab, tap Report Cards, then turn Send report cards on or off. When it's on, pick a Default for all clients: Full, Lightweight, or Private log.
On the web: Settings, then Report Cards. Toggle Send report cards, pick a Default style, then click Save Default.
Change it for one client
Your default applies to everyone, but you can override it for a single client from their profile.
On your phone: Clients, open the client, find the Report Cards card on their profile, and tap Full, Lightweight, or Private log. Tap Reset to default to go back to your business default.
On the web: Clients, open the client, and in the Report Cards card choose Use business default, Full, Lightweight, or Private (none).
Your clients can choose too
A client can set their own level from their account, under Settings then Report cards - full details, just photos, or none at all. The one rule Chester enforces: a client can only make their report cards more private than your setting, never less. So if someone has opted out, their choice always wins.
Good to know
- The most private choice always applies. If your setting and your client's differ, Chester uses the more private one - a client who's opted out stays opted out, full stop.
- Private still means you keep your notes. "Private" only stops the client's copy; your own internal log of the visit is untouched.
- On a group visit, a private client is simply left out of the send - the other households still get theirs as normal.
