Sign a document from your provider

Last updated September 2026 Ā· v1.0

Before your first visit, your provider may ask you to read and sign a few documents - a service agreement, a liability waiver, a vet release, or their policies. Chester keeps them in one place and tracks each one until it's complete.

The short version
  1. Open Documents to sign.
  2. Tap a document to read it.
  3. Acknowledge, sign, or attach a file to finish it.

On your phone

  1. From the bottom bar, tap the More tab, then under Account tap Documents to sign. If anything is waiting on you, the row shows ⚠ Action required and a badge.
  2. You'll see each set your provider sent, with a progress bar and an X of Y count. Every document has a tag showing what it needs: Read, Sign, or Attach.
  3. Tap a document to open it. Depending on its type:
    • Read - scroll through the document, then tap I've Read This (it unlocks once you reach the bottom).
    • Sign - read the document, choose Draw or Type name, add your signature, then tap Sign & Submit.
    • Attach - tap Download the form if your provider included one, then tap Attach a file to add a photo or PDF (take a photo, choose from your library, or pick a file).
  4. If there's a PDF, tap Open document to view it in full.
  5. Once done, the item shows a check and a line through its title, and the set reads All documents completed! when everything's finished. A completed document shows the date and your saved signature.

On the web

  1. In the left sidebar, click Documents to sign. Outstanding sets show a badge.
  2. Each set appears as a card with a progress bar, a status of Pending, In Progress, or Done, and a Start Documents (or Continue Documents) button.
  3. Click through to the set, then expand each document:
    • Read - click Open PDF document ↗ if there's a file, scroll through, then click I've Read This.
    • Sign - read it, choose Type name or Draw, add your signature, then click Sign & Submit.
    • Attach - upload a photo or PDF.
  4. Completed documents collapse and show as done, so you can always see what's left.

Good to know

  • You need to read a document before you can acknowledge or sign it - the button unlocks once you scroll to the bottom.
  • Signing is a one-time step. Your signature is saved with each document, and you'll see it on the completed record.
  • You can sign by drawing or by typing your full name - both count. By signing, you confirm you've read and agree to the document.
  • Attachments accept one photo or PDF, up to 10 MB. You can replace a file you've already attached.
  • You can complete each document whenever you're ready - though your provider may ask for them before your first visit.
