Set up kennels for boarding
Kennels let you track which kennel every boarding dog is in. They work with services priced per night, and pet owners never see kennel numbers.
The short version
- Open a per-night service's booking rules and tap Set up kennels.
- Add an area, then add its kennels as a run, such as A1 to A17.
- Pick a kennel for each dog when you book or accept a stay.
On your phone
- Tap the More tab, then Settings, then Booking rules, and open a per-night service.
- On the Kennels row, tap Set up kennels.
- Once you have kennels, the Kennels row also shows in Settings.
- Under Areas, type a name, for example "Kennel Area A", and add it.
- Under Kennels, enter the first kennel and, if you want a run, the last one, for example A1 to A17.
- Choose a Size or type and how many dogs each one Fits up to, then tap the add button.
- Tap a kennel later to rename it, change its size or how many dogs fit, or remove it.
- To make your own sizes, such as "Suite", use the Sizes section.
On the web
- Click Settings, then Booking rules, and open a per-night service.
- On the Kennels row, click Set up kennels.
- Under Add an area, type a name and click Add area.
- Under Add kennels, fill in From, To (optional), Size or type and Fits up to, then click the add button.
- Under Sizes, type a name such as "Suite" in Add a size and click Add size.
Give each dog a kennel
- When you book or accept a one-off per-night stay, Chester asks you to pick a kennel for each dog.
- When booking, only people who can assign bookings are asked to pick a kennel.
- In the grid view, Chester shows the kennels that are empty for every night of the stay.
- If a kennel is full, or holds another family's dog, Chester asks before you put the dog in anyway.
- You can also confirm without a kennel.
See who is where
- On your schedule, open the Kennels view to see every kennel and the dog in it.
- You can switch between Day and Week on both the phone and the web.
- Dogs without a kennel are listed under "No kennel", and you can assign them from the board.
- Team members see the Kennels view, and can move a dog to another kennel, only if they can assign bookings.
Good to know
- Who can set up kennels. Editing needs the Edit business settings permission.
- How many dogs you take a day or night is set separately, on Your place, under Pets at your place.
- Removing a kennel or an area moves its upcoming dogs to No kennel.
- Sizes are labels only and never change a price.
- Pet owners never see kennel numbers.
