Booking & Scheduling
Build a group walk pack
A pack is a saved group of dogs that walk together. It holds your notes on each dog and which dogs get along. These notes are internal and pet owners never see them.
The short version
- Open Packs, create a pack, and add the dogs.
- Mark each dog's group eligibility and any pairings.
- Book the whole pack from the pack page.
On your phone
- Tap the More tab, then Packs.
- Under New pack, type a name, for example "Beach AM pack", and tap Create pack.
- Open the pack, tap + Add next to Dogs in this pack, tap each dog to add it, then tap Done.
- Under Dogs in this pack, set each dog's Group eligibility: Eligible, Needs conditions or Skip in group walks.
- You can add notes on behaviour, energy and pickup for that dog in this pack.
- Under Pairings, pick a First dog and a Second dog, choose Avoid or Gets along, and tap Add.
On the web
- Click Packs in the left menu.
- Type a name and click Create.
- Open the pack, click Add pet, then click each dog in the list to add it.
- Set each dog's eligibility to Eligible, Needs conditions or Skip in group walks.
- Under Pairings, pick two dogs, choose avoid or Gets along, and add the pairing.
Book the pack
- On the pack page, use Schedule this pack: pick the Group walk service and the Date & time, then Schedule pack.
- Turn on Repeat weekly to book set days through an end date. On the phone the button then reads Schedule recurring group. On the web it shows how many dates it will book.
- Schedule this pack shows once the pack has a dog. With no group walk service yet, it tells you to add one.
- If a dog is marked to skip group walks or needs conditions, or two dogs are marked to avoid each other, Chester warns you first. You can still tap Book anyway.
- Dogs already booked at that time are listed and skipped, and so are dogs over the walk's group size or marked Do not book.
- Chester makes one booking per household, and each is billed on its own.
Good to know
- Who can use packs. It needs the Manage packs permission, which only owners have by default. Booking a pack also needs Create bookings.
- Labels such as "AM run" or "Beach" help you tell packs apart.
- Archiving a pack removes it from scheduling. You can restore it later from the pack list.
- Running the walk itself is covered in Run a group walk.
