Collect and respond to reviews
Your rating is your reputation, built one session at a time. There's no "request a review" button to remember - Chester prompts the client automatically after a completed session, and every rating shows up on your Reviews screen where you can read it and reply.
The short version
- A client rates a completed session 1 - 5 stars (with an optional comment).
- Open your Reviews screen to see each one.
- Tap Respond to reply in public, or Edit to change a reply later.
On your phone
- See your reviews: on your home screen, tap the Reviews quick action (the star). You'll see your average rating up top, then each review with the client's first name, service, and date.
- Reply to one: tap Respond under a review, type your message, and tap Send Response.
- Change a reply: tap Edit on your existing response, adjust it, and tap Save.
On the web
- See your reviews: in the left menu, click Reviews. The same score card and review list appear, with a star breakdown.
- Reply to one: click Respond under a review, type your message, and click Send Response.
- Change a reply: click Edit on your response, adjust it, and click Save.
What your client gets
After a completed session, the client sees a prompt in their portal - "How was [pet]'s session?" - with a 1 - 5 star picker and an optional comment box up to 1,000 characters. They can only leave a review within 7 days of the session. Once you reply, your response shows right under their review, labelled with your name.
Good to know
- Reviews are automatic. You don't send review requests - the prompt appears for the client on its own after the session is marked completed.
- Your public rating appears once you have at least 3 reviews. Below that, your Reviews screen shows an "Almost there" note instead of an average.
- A response is capped at 500 characters. Keep it short and warm - replying to praise or criticism shows future clients you're attentive.
- You can reply, but you can't change a client's rating. Clients can edit or delete their own reviews at any time, and your average updates automatically.
- Who sees what: owners see every review across the business; staff and contractors see only reviews about their own sessions.
- Badges are automatic. Milestones like Rising Star and Trusted Pro are awarded to the business as your review count and average grow - no action needed.
